The Global Somali Council (“GSC”) Upcoming Activities

The GSC is to organize the following activities in the coming months. They are related to the changing socio-political changes taking place in the world, Africa and in particular the Horn of Africa States.
The GSC is aware of the following glaring facts with respect to Somalia and the Somali situation visa vis the rest of the world and more specifically the United States and Europe, despite their exposure to the country and people for a long time now, spanning more than a century and a half.
It is clear that a lot of improper and wrong information have been fed into the mindsets of many American and European and other peoples about Somalia and Somalis. These are found in books, libraries and in fact in many online sites and in the ministries of foreign affairs of many countries.
The wrong information was fed into the systems for a long time by those who do not wish well to the Somali people or were attempting to gain some footholds in the psyches and minds across the globe at the expense of Somalis.
It has, therefore become necessary for the Global Somali Council to address some of these issues with the means and resources at its disposal, at least, to challenge the misinformation implanted on others with respect to Somalia and Somalis in general and more specifically, in the American and European Union mindsets.
It is, therefore, necessary that the Global Somali Council arranges the following two events, which carry their own weights and messages:

The USA- Somali Partnership (“USASOMPART”)

The USASOMPART is a two-day event that will be organized in Washington D.C., the center of power of the world of today during the first quarter of 2025. The main goal of the event is to introduce Somalia afresh to the United States of America, which itself has acquired a new administration which appears to be different from the previous administration before it. The event will present Somalia through a new prism, that of academicians and people of learning, and the voice of the silent majority of Somalis.
The event is to present Somalia and its resources and pave the way for establishing a new partnership between the USA and Somalia, involving a new paradigm for the relations between the two countries. It is clear that Somalia owns and enjoys a vast land, air and marine spaces, which is important for both the USA and Somalia in the tough global power competitions ahead.

The European Union-Somali Partnership (“EUROSOMPART”)

The Eursompart is a two-day event to be organized and held in Brussels, Belgium, the de facto capital of the European Union in the fall of 2025. The main goal of the event is to introduce Somalia to the European Union through a new prism, those of the Somalia’s academicians and learned people and not solely through the political groups of the country. The event will pave the way for establishing a new partnership between the European Union and Somali people. It will prepare a new paradigm for the relations between the two peoples of Europe and Somalis, without affecting the relationship the European Union partnership with Africa. It is, indeed, designed to strengthen the new bond between the African continent and the European Union, in view of the changing global economic and political environment.

The Horn of Africa States

The Horn of Africa States is home for four countries, namely Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti (together the “SEED” countries), whose cultures have been linked throughout their long history. It is considered one of the most strategically important regions in the world. But the region is marred by conflicts both internal and external, and hence needs to address those issues on a collective manner than on the individual basis, the way they are organized as countries today. The Horn of Africa States is to be organized into a platform not vastly different from the European Union, where the SEED countries of the region are working together socially, economically and politically as one unit instead of disparate warring individual states of today. A conference in this respect is to be organized in this respect in the not-too-distant future with the collaboration of parties who see value in the project.
